The Sheriff Office's primary concern is the safety and well-being of all persons and property in Cascade County. Responsibilities include: executing court-issued civil and criminal process; providing patrol and investigative functions; providing a secure, healthy detention facility; providing professional training for personnel; maintaining an accurate record-keeping system.

Rural animal control is also performed by the Sheriff's Office. If you live outside the Great Falls city limits and have a concern and/or problem with domestic animals, please contact this office. To view the Cascade County Dog Ordinance please click here.

In 2012, this office conducted 10 Investigations into alleged PREA incidents. In summary, the 2 sexual assault allegations were investigated and reported to be unfounded, we had 8 alleged sexual misconducts allegations 7 of them were unfounded and 1 is pending further investigation.

In 2013, this office conducted 25 investigations into alleged PREA incidents as required by the new standards. In summary; we had 6 alleged allegations of sexual assault, (2) were substantiated and charges filed (1) was substantiated individual charged with false reporting (2) others were unfounded no action taken (1) unsubstantiated no action taken, we investigated 9 alleged incidents of sexual misconduct (2) were substantiated and administrative action taken (5) were unsubstantiated (2) was unfounded, (2) alleged sexual harassment incident (1) substantiated charged with disorderly conduct (1) unsubstantiated, 7 pending investigative reports. Data collected indicates after attending the Regional PREA Investigations Training for Correctional settings we have experienced an influx of allegations to which we are investigating and are handing out administrative or criminal charges against the alleged individuals.
